Fasting? What does the Bible say about it? What miracles have been worked through your fasting?
I ahve a couple of questions up there. Personal stories are extremely helpful. Quoted scripture helps too.. Thanks to all!
Matt 6 : 16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Notice that Jesus assumed the idea that we would fast. He did not say if you fast, or should you fast.
That alone is enough for me. Mystics have practiced fasting for centuries. They do this to heighten their ability to receive revelation.
Just be careful and start small. don’t try for 40 days and 40 nights for a first try.
24 hours is a good place to start. Don’t gorge your self when you stop. Just eat fruit the first day and slowly add other foods over the next few days. You will likely discover what foods your body does not tolerate well. If you notice that you suddenly feel tired or heavy after eating a certain type of food you might well avoid that food in the future completely.
Be careful of those who try to prove a negative by saying it does not work because it did not work for me. Intent is everything.
